Randolph School Setting

Main Building
The Randolph School occupies a large Victorian manor
and carriage house on a magnificent parcel of land bordered by
a lovely stream in Wappingers Falls, New York. The Randolph School's
main building is housed in the Victorian home. The large brick
house has spacious rooms that have been converted into classrooms. The
'Downstairs' program is for our Pre-School through Kindergarten
students. Our 'Upstairs' program is for students in the first
through fifth grades. We have combined the students in grades
six through twelve to form our Upper School which is housed in
the carriage house.

Building Together in the Downstairs |
Downstairs
there are cozy spaces to cuddle up and listen to stories,
tables on which to do projects and climbing/playhouse structures
which are constantly transformed by the children into stores,
zoos, beehives or space stations. An extensive block
building center is the heart of many creative structures
and fantasies. Also in the downstairs of the building is
a pleasant, well stocked library, a kitchen for cooking
projects and school feasts and a multimedia art room that
is shared by students in all of the programs.

The Upstairs classrooms contain informal groupings of tables and chairs, computers,
shelves full of math materials, books, science and nature
specimens. There is a carpeted block room that is a social
center for all of the students. There are educational games
available for the students to use and explore.

Studying Current Events in the Upstairs |

The carriage house behind the main building contains classrooms
that are primarily used by students in the Upper School programs.
The first floor has classes in Math, Music and Art as well
as theatrical performances, digital audio recording, and film
production. These are just some of the exciting activities
that happen in the large multi-purpose room on the first floor.
On the second floor, the Upper School Library and Computer
Center are used through the day by all of the students. |

Sharing Work in the Upper School |
| Outside there are
separate playgrounds for younger and older children with age
appropriate climbing structures. A field behind the
school is the ideal setting for soccer, ultimate frisbee or
freeze tag. A number of historic maple trees allow for
an annual sugaring project. The school is adjacent to 110
acres of town park, which we utilize for hiking and natural
science experiences. Our property also includes acres of woods
that are available for exploration and contemplation. |

In the wintertime, our students are thrilled
as they guide their sleds faster than anyone has ever gone before.
