Parents' Page
Parents at Randolph are an integral part of the school
community. Parent volunteers not only raise funds for the
school, they are encouraged to share their expertise and talents
with the children. A dad who is a biology teacher might bring
in a skeleton and talk about bones when they are studying the human
body. A mom or big brother will often come and read to a group
of children. Recently parents have been cooking with children,
maintaining the garden and grounds, working with the Writers Group
and going on field trips.
The
Parent Group is a cooperatively run,
organized group, chartered to sponsor a variety of activities, including
school projects, fundraisers, social activities, workshops, lectures
and community service. The group is open to all parents/caregivers
and includes faculty representation. Parents work in collaboration
with the staff to help further the mission of the Randolph School.
Throughout the year there are many occasions that
parents are invited to attend. At the beginning of the year there
is an informational pot-luck dinner meeting that allows parents
to meet the entire staff and each other. We have a number of delicious
feasts around the holiday times and parent assistance is always
welcome and necessary. The year ends with a campout and rocket launch
with the parents and our own Stepping Stones Graduation Ceremony
celebrates each child's progression in life.
As the year progresses, many
other events are scheduled and parents are encouraged to join
their children at them. Some are traditional and others are new
and exciting experiences that are offered for parents to share in
their child's education.
